RM Remote

Retail Manager Remote (RM Remote) gives the retailer live wireless access to the Daily Activities functionality of Maranello and Retail Manager Plus. This is achieved by utilising a Pocket PC PDA or Windows CE hand-hand computer which communicates over a Wi-Fi local area network to update the server database files.

RM Remote allows live data to be retrieved from the server and processed on the device immediately. Any updates are then returned to the server to update the RM databases without delay – there is no need to manually connect the unit to the server via cables as data is transmitted over the radio network to and from the device on demand.

Features

RM Remote currently has functionality for:

  • Label Requests – compile list of product labels to print
  • Transfer Stock – move stock to other branches
  • Price Verify – collect on-shelf prices for comparison on system, (optional)
  • Price Changes – instant ability to change sales prices
  • Stock Taking – build database of counted stock quantities
  • Stock Deliveries – booking in at source of goods inwards
  • Suggested Orders – append scanned products into a suggested order
  • Waste/Faulty – immediately write off wasted or faulty stock
  • Returns – record products that have been returned to a supplier
  • Price Survey – offline collection of competitors’ prices (optional, subject to local law)

Traditionally, hand-held data capture devices have collected and stored information on the device as required and then uploaded to the server as a batch process. However, modern retailers are now demanding that 'live' updates take place with information being updated on the server immediately.

RM Remote allows you to do just that. For example a product can be scanned on the shelf, have its price changed and be saved back to the server. This will be immediately available as the standard price for that product at all point of sale terminals.

Stock takes can be carried out 'at source' negating the need to complete stock sheets then input the values at the back office. An RM Remote stock take builds up the counted quantities temporarily on the server which are then confirmed when required.

Question

Answer

Can I use my existing PDA for RM Remote?

RM Remote has been successfully tested on WinCE 3.0, Pocket PC 2002, Pocket PC 2003 and .NET devices.

However, it is recommended that a device be chosen that has an integral barcode scanner, such as the Unitech PA962 range.

How much does RM Remote cost?

There are many factors that govern the total cost for an RM Remote installation, for example the number of mobile devices and Wi-Fi access points required.

A full Wi-Fi site survey will need to be carried out either by BitS technical engineers or a qualified engineer of your choice.

Please contact our sales team for more information.
